Let’s continue in my series: the Herd Behind the Healing! Indie is half quarter horse and half gypsy vanner. We have only had her for a couple years. We got her from our good friend who lived in Washington. She was moving to California and couldn’t take her with her. She is a great healer. We have also drawn on her before with non-toxic paint with words of inspiration. Her black and white body made the perfect canvas. She is about 15-18 years old. Her best friends are Bugz, Ladybugs, and Tilly. They all live together in a pasture.

Have you ever thought about someone out of the blue and wondered why? Maybe it wasn’t random at all. This month, I’m celebrating 12 years with Send Out Cards/Promptings and reflecting on the incredible power of gratitude, kindness, and connection. Over the years, I’ve sent more than 29,000 cards, and one thing I’ve learned is that the smallest gestures often have the biggest impact. A handwritten card, a thoughtful text, a quick phone call, or even a simple “I’m thinking about you” can brighten someone’s day in ways you may never fully know.
As a Gratitude Consultant, I’ve seen firsthand how reaching out benefits both the sender and the receiver. When you pause to notice, appreciate, and encourage others, it changes your heart, too. It creates more love, kindness, and connection in the world.
Here’s my question for you: Who is on your heart today? Is there someone you’ve been meaning to call, text, message, or send a card to? Don’t ignore that prompting. Tell them you love them. Let them know you’re thinking about them. Your small act of kindness might be exactly what they need today.

Tilly is a mustang mare that came from the Warm Springs reservation. She used to belong to our granddaughter, but she ended up outgrowing her. She is a 25-year-old mare. She has always been a kid’s horse. She hasn’t done a ton of equine gestalt healing work, but she does sometimes help heal people. She is a sweet horse whose nickname is Peanut because she is so small. She bosses around one of the other bigger horses, but other than that she’s one of the horses low on the totem pole of authority. Tilly is the sweetest horse.

One of the most powerful exercises I experienced came from a branding workshop by Michele O’Hara of Luminous Brands Consultancy where, instead of introducing ourselves with words, we were asked to draw a picture of ourselves at our happiest. Not our job title. Not our accomplishments. Just a picture of what joy looked like in our lives. It was such a beautiful reminder that happiness leaves clues. When you begin paying attention to the moments that make you feel most alive, peaceful, fulfilled, and connected, you start discovering more about your purpose, your calling, and the life you were created to live.

Use the space on the page of the printable to draw yourself at your happiest and reflect on what brings you genuine joy. What are you doing? Who are you with? How do you feel? And now my question for you is, if this drawing is you at your happiest, are you doing it? Are you living out that drawing? Sometimes the path forward begins by reconnecting with what lights you up inside.

She is the leader of the herd. Her best friend is Babie. She is one of our greatest healers. She is heart horse, and she especially works with clients and their broken hearts. She foundered back in Tennessee, so we have to be careful with her when the green grass pops up. She’s currently under the arena on a special diet because of that right now!
